Ikeda Shiseizan (Ikeda Yūji) was born September 7, 1919. He studied Tozan-ryū shakuhachi under Sashizawa Kyūzan (a student of Nakako Gyokuzan), attaining the rank of Dai-Shihan and the title of Chikurin-ken. He passed away in August 1995.
